Literary awareness is an important part of every community. Our mission is to help children grades 3-7 with reading fluency, comprehension and spelling. The vision is that every participant, no matter the age, will be able to read one grade level or higher than when they first entered the program. Help us share the literacy through phonics system with members of your community.
We provide report card progress assessments outlining individual goals to continue creating strategies of educational growth.
Our community is full of people who want to help. We invite volunteers with backgrounds in education from our local area to support community members in need. We work to connect the people providing services with the people who need them. Help us connect with people in new ways.
Long before I ever enrolled to achieve my Bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University I had a nephew named Cletus who was a straight F student. Whenever I visited home, I asked him to gather his papers all stern across the kitchen table. We'd work where ever: on the porch, living room, his bedroom floor, wherever he felt most comfortable. Well, his grades went from F's to C's and even one B. His favorite subjects was science. And it was Cletus who told me I should become a teacher...and I did. I am now a retired classroom teacher with 21 years of experience at Columbus City Schools where my main focus was English, Social Studies and Language Arts.
Learning to read is fundamental. Learning how to pronounce each basic sound is critical in the process to improve literacy and reading comprehension. I want to help your children and I want to help you.
